Every mortgage journey is different.
A first-time buyer may need help understanding affordability and the Mortgage in Principle process. Someone remortgaging may be concerned about their current deal ending. A self-employed customer, landlord or person with previous credit problems may need help finding lenders whose criteria fit their circumstances.
That is why the most useful mortgage broker reviews are not simply the ones with the highest star rating. They are the reviews written by people whose situation, questions or concerns are similar to your own.
What Customers Often Value About The Mortgage Broker
Clear Explanations
Mortgage applications can involve unfamiliar terminology, lender criteria and financial decisions. Customers regularly value advisers who explain their options clearly and in plain English.
Fast, Responsive Communication
Customers want to know what is happening and what they need to do next. Reviews frequently highlight responsive advisers, regular updates and questions being answered promptly.
Honest, Realistic Advice
Good mortgage advice should not create false expectations. Customers value understanding where they stand, which options may be realistic and what could prevent an application from proceeding.

Help With Complex Circumstances
Not every customer fits a standard lending profile. Reviews often describe support for self-employed income, company directors, contractors, landlords, previous credit issues and other more complicated circumstances.
Reassurance Throughout the Process
Buying a home or changing a mortgage can feel stressful. Customers often mention feeling calmer and more confident when they understand the process and have a named adviser supporting them.
Support From Enquiry to Mortgage Offer
A mortgage is not finished when a rate is discussed. Customers value help preparing their information, submitting the application, responding to lender questions and progressing towards a mortgage offer.
Customers may leave feedback by freely going onto our review profile pages. All of our customers get asked to leave a review after they have experienced our service and we send an open invitation from Trustpilot or independently through Trustpilot or Google. Trustpilot displays labels explaining how individual reviews were collected. We welcome honest feedback, whether positive or negative, and customers are not asked to leave a particular score or say particular things about our service. The Mortgage Broker does not control the content of reviews published through Trustpilot or Google. Each platform operates its own review, verification and moderation processes. How We Use Customer Feedback
Customer reviews are not simply a marketing score, but a real life reflection on our service, our knowledge and the solutions we provide our customers. We are extremely proud of our service and review scores, and often discuss them internally.
We use feedback to:
- recognise advisers and team members who deliver excellent service;
- identify recurring communication or service problems;
- improve how we explain the mortgage process;
- strengthen adviser and team training;
- understand what customers find confusing or stressful;
- improve the way customers are supported at different stages;
- identify where our service has fallen short.
As our review analysis develops, we will publish more information about what customers tell us and what we have changed as a result.
Star ratings are useful, but they should not be the only factor you consider when choosing a mortgage adviser or what service they provide. Look for Recent Feedback A large historic review total is valuable, but recent reviews give you a clearer picture of the service customers are receiving today. Find Customers With Similar Circumstances Look for reviews from first-time buyers, remortgagers, landlords, self-employed customers or people with similar credit or income circumstances. Read the Detail, Not Just the Rating Useful reviews explain what the adviser did, how clearly they communicated and whether the customer felt properly supported. Check How Problems Are Handled No business gets everything right for every customer. Look at whether the company responds professionally, investigates concerns and takes responsibility when service falls below expectations. Separate Service From Mortgage Outcome A positive review does not mean that another customer will receive the same lender, interest rate, borrowing amount or mortgage decision. Mortgage options depend on your income, expenditure, deposit, credit profile, property, affordability and the lending criteria in force at the time.How to Judge Mortgage Broker Reviews
Reviews Matter… But Personal Advice Matters Much More
Reviews can help you understand how other people experienced a mortgage broker. They cannot tell you which mortgage is suitable for you or whether your application will be accepted.
Your options will depend on your individual circumstances, including:
- your income and employment;
- existing financial commitments;
- deposit or available equity;
- credit history;
- the property;
- your intended use of the property;
- affordability assessments;
- individual lender criteria.
A mortgage adviser can review those circumstances and explain the options that may be available to you, and they will do so whilst focusing on your personal goals. A mortgage broker works for you, no one else.
When Our Service Falls Short
We aim to provide an excellent service, but we also recognise that customers may sometimes feel we have fallen short.
We respond to concerns, investigate the circumstances and use recurring feedback to improve our processes. We will not discuss confidential mortgage, protection or personal information publicly, so we may ask a reviewer to contact us securely.
Customer feedback is most valuable when it helps us understand both what worked well and what needs to change.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many reviews does The Mortgage Broker have?
Our current Trustpilot rating and review total are displayed at the top of this page and updated using Trustpilot data.
We also receive customer feedback through Google. Ratings and review totals are displayed separately so that it is always clear which platform the information comes from.
Are all Trustpilot reviews verified?
Trustpilot uses different labels to explain how a review was collected. Some customers leave a review following a Trustpilot invitation, while others choose to leave one independently.
The label displayed alongside an individual review provides more information about its source.
Can I find reviews from customers in circumstances similar to mine?
Yes. Where enough relevant feedback is available, reviews can be filtered by mortgage service or customer journey, including first-time buyers, remortgages, self-employed mortgages, bad-credit cases, buy-to-let and protection advice.
Does having positive reviews guarantee that my mortgage will be approved?
No. Reviews describe an individual customer’s experience and do not guarantee a mortgage outcome.
Approval depends on your circumstances, affordability, credit checks, the property and the lender’s criteria.
Can I choose a mortgage adviser based on reviews?
You can tell us when a particular adviser has been recommended to you. Adviser availability, expertise and the type of support you need will also be considered when arranging your appointment.
How can I leave a review?
Customers can leave feedback through our Trustpilot profile or relevant Google Business Profile.
Please do not include private financial, medical, credit or property information in a public review. Concerns involving personal case information should be sent to us directly through a secure channel.
Do you respond to negative feedback?
Yes. Where a customer raises a concern, we aim to acknowledge it promptly and investigate it properly.
We will not discuss confidential mortgage, protection or personal information publicly. We may therefore ask the reviewer to contact us securely so that we can identify and review their case.
