Clare Peckham

Job Title: Operations Director

Qualifications: CeMAP

Years of Experience in Financial Services: Since 1990

Professional Bio: I always knew I wanted to work with numbers, so when I left school I started work for a High Street Bank. After 6 years working in the back office, as a cashier then assistant to the Branch Manager working with local business owners it was suggested to me that I should apply for a promotion to Mortgage Adviser, this would allow me to specialise in helping clients with probably the biggest purchase of their life. After 11 years as a Mortgage Adviser with the High Street Bank I decided it was time to move on to see what the wider Mortgage Industry could offer to help me continue to support clients in this way. This is when I started working for The Mortgage Broker. I have seen the industry change hugely in this time; changes in the economy leading to changes in lender criteria, changes to regulation and technology advances. Keeping abreast of these changes is one of the things that makes the Mortgage Industry an interesting one to work in. All done with the priority of keeping our clients at the forefront of everything we do.

Specialist Areas:

  • Mortgage Systems & Processes
  • Business Operations
  • Mortgage Broker Sales Process
  • Mortgage Finances
  • Mortgage & Protection

Personal Information: I have worked in Financial Services for over 30 years joining The Mortgage Broker as a Mortgage Adviser in 2007. In 2010 I took on the role of Office Manager progressing to Operations Director in 2020. I have 2 children who are now young adults. It is a pleasure to watch them grow and develop whilst I do my best to guide them along the way.

Something not everyone knows about me: I am a huge Midge Ure fan and once spent nearly 2 hours waiting outside the stage door after a concert for him to sign a poster I had bought, it was pouring with rain so I was the only one left standing there when he eventually came out, I got a kiss on the cheek for my dedication.

If I won the Euro millions lottery I would: After treating myself to a brand new car I would take my family travelling. Lots of new places to discover but another trip to Canada would definitely be on the list.

First Full time job: I started working for Barclays Bank in 1990 making the Branch Manager’s tea and franking the post. Progressing from the back office to the counter and then on to mortgage advising in 1996.

I love my job because: It is never dull, with different challenges to deal with every day.
